"Leonardo da Vinci y la Música"
March 28 to April 17, 2003 in Madrid
An opening concert was performed in the evening on the 27th of March.

Leonardo da Vinci's manuscript of viola organista was found together with the sketches of other musical instruments in the Madrid National Library in 1967. An event of concert and exhibition with these musical instrument was held in Madrid. Akio Obuchi made a Geigenwerk (= viola organista) for this event. After finishing the exhibition in Madrid, the event is planned to move to other places in Europe, such as Tenerife, Brussels, Vinci and Lisbon. Then, it may further travel to Japan and the USA. After the touring in these cities, the instruments will be permanently exhibited in the brand-new Tenerife auditorium.

"Festival della Scienza"
with Exhibitions, Concerts and Conferences were carried out at Genoa, Italy between October 28th and November 8th 2004.

Festival della Scienza was carried out in Genova, Italy, which was appointed as the ＥＵ cultural city in 2004. Participation was from all aspects of science, including energy, geology, robotics, biology and etc. Among them, "Leonardo da Vinci e la musica" took place with an exhibition of reconstructed musical instruments from the Leonardo's illustration, a concert with some of the reconstructed instruments and lectures by the instrument builders. For this event, construction of viola organista was assigned to Akio Obuchi. In the Leonardo's manuscript, ideas for the viola organista including a reciprocal bow, a circular disk and en endless belt are illustrated. This time an instrument with endless belts, Streichklavier, was constructed. In contrust with the previously made Geigenwerk, the Streichklavier has a flat shaped soundboard bridge,instead of convex shaped one.
